Important Information About Emergency Services
Switch Mobile supports access to emergency services (911) through compatible devices on our network.
However, there are important limitations you should understand.
By activating or using Switch service, you acknowledge and agree to the terms outlined below.
1. Availability of 911 Service
911 and Enhanced 911 (E911) service is available in most areas where Switch provides wireless coverage.
Access to 911 depends on:
- Network availability
- Device compatibility
- Signal strength
- Location conditions
If your device does not have coverage, you may not be able to complete a 911 call.
2. Location Information (E911)
Enhanced 911 is designed to transmit your phone number and approximate location to emergency responders.
Location accuracy depends on:
- GPS capability of your device
- Network triangulation
- Indoor or outdoor conditions
- Obstructions (buildings, terrain)
In some situations, your precise location may not be automatically transmitted.
If possible, you should always provide your location verbally to the emergency operator.
3. Service Interruptions
911 service may be unavailable during:
- Network outages
- Power outages
- Natural disasters
- Congestion or heavy network traffic
- Device malfunction
Switch does not guarantee uninterrupted access to emergency services.
4. Non-Voice Devices
Certain devices that do not support voice calling (such as data-only devices) may not support 911 calling.
You are responsible for confirming your device’s ability to place emergency calls.
5. Wi-Fi Calling & 911
If Wi-Fi calling is enabled:
- 911 calls may be routed over Wi-Fi
- Location information may be based on your registered Wi-Fi address
It is your responsibility to keep your registered address accurate in your account settings.
Incorrect address information may delay emergency response.
6. International Travel
911 service is intended for use within the United States.
If traveling internationally, local emergency numbers will differ and may not be accessible through 911.
You are responsible for understanding local emergency dialing procedures when outside the U.S.
7. Acknowledgment of Limitations
By using Switch service, you acknowledge that:
- 911 service depends on network availability
- Location accuracy is not guaranteed
- Interruptions may occur
- Switch is not responsible for delays caused by third-party networks
Switch is not liable for failure of emergency services due to circumstances beyond our control.
8. Important Reminder
In an emergency:
- Stay calm
- Provide your exact location verbally
- Do not hang up until instructed
If your call drops, call 911 again immediately.
