How We Manage Network Performance
Switch Mobile operates on a nationwide wireless network provided by a third-party carrier partner.
To maintain reliable service for all customers, we use reasonable network management practices.
This page explains how those practices work.
1. Why Network Management Exists
Wireless networks are shared resources.
At times — especially during peak usage — network congestion can occur.
Network management helps:
- Maintain consistent performance
- Reduce service disruptions
- Prevent abuse
- Ensure fair access for all users
These practices are common across all major carriers.
2. Unlimited Plan Data Management
Switch Unlimited plans include unlimited data.
However:
During periods of network congestion, data speeds may be temporarily reduced for customers whose usage exceeds certain thresholds within a billing cycle.
This is not a hard cap or service cutoff.
It is temporary network prioritization to manage congestion.
Once congestion decreases, speeds typically return to normal.
3. Pay As You Go Data Management
Pay As You Go plans include a set amount of high-speed data per billing cycle.
Once the included data amount is reached:
- Speeds may be reduced
- Additional data may be purchased
Data usage resets at the start of each billing cycle.
4. Tethering & Hotspot Usage
Hotspot usage is permitted according to your plan’s allowances.
Excessive tethering or automated high-volume data activity may result in:
- Speed reduction
- Temporary suspension
- Account review
Service is intended for personal use, not commercial reselling or industrial applications.
5. Prohibited Network Activity
To protect network integrity, the following activities are not permitted:
- Continuous automated data transfers
- Server hosting
- Peer-to-peer abuse
- Network interference
- SIM card manipulation
- Artificial traffic generation
Accounts engaging in abusive activity may be restricted or terminated.
6. Video Optimization
To improve overall network performance during congestion, video streaming quality may be optimized on certain plans.
Actual video resolution depends on:
- Device capability
- Network conditions
- Streaming platform
Switch does not guarantee specific video resolutions.
7. Emergency & Public Safety Prioritization
During emergencies or critical public safety events, certain traffic types may receive priority access to maintain essential communications.
This may temporarily affect general consumer speeds.
8. Third-Party Network Dependency
Because Switch operates on a third-party nationwide network, we are subject to that provider’s underlying network management policies.
Coverage, speeds, and prioritization may vary by location and network conditions.
9. Transparency Commitment
Switch is committed to being transparent about how network performance works.
We do not:
- Secretly throttle without reason
- Impose hidden data caps on unlimited plans
- Block lawful content
We manage the network responsibly to maintain fairness and performance.
10. Changes to Policy
Switch reserves the right to modify this Network Management Policy as required by regulatory changes or operational needs.
The most current version will always be available on this page.
